The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship in Information Technology (SURF-IT), a collaboration between CALIT2 and the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP), provides a unique 10-week summer research opportunity for UCI undergraduates to become immersed in IT-related research and applications. This year, 15 multidisciplinary research projects are available in CALIT2-affiliated labs.
Under the personal guidance of a UCI faculty mentor, students will gain first-hand experience and training in state-of-the-art facilities and techniques. A series of seminars will provide opportunities to build knowledge and enhance dialogue about telecommunications and information technology systems and applications. At the conclusion of the program, students will be prepared to share their research accomplishments by presenting their findings at the SURF-IT Poster Session and Closing Reception.
This program is designed to help students develop the knowledge and skills that will propel them into graduate studies or careers in the various multidisciplinary fields of telecommunications and information technology.
