A delegation representing China, including Zhang Ping, Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Los Angeles met with CALIT2 director, G.P. Li and toured the research facility Monday. This was the first diplomatic visit made to UCI by Ping since he arrived at his post in LA about six months ago.
The Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles covers ten southern Californian counties as well as Arizona, New Mexico, Hawaii, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa.
In addition to visiting CALIT2, the delegation met with Chancellor Howard Gillman and several UCI scholars who have collaborated on projects with Chinese researchers. UCI has extensive relations with Chinese scholars for research and currently has about 5,000 Chinese students enrolled.
