Stuart Ross, CALIT2@UCI assistant director for research development, was honored by his former employer, Cal State Fullerton, with a “Gold Star Exceptional Service Award.”
Ross, who worked at the California State University for 14 years before joining CALIT2 in 2002, was the first director of CSUF’s Office of Grants and Contracts. He was honored during an awards luncheon at a day-long symposium held March 14 in conjunction with the university’s 50th anniversary.
Sponsored by the CSUF Office of Grants and Contracts, “In Celebration of Research: Strengthening CSU’s Research Collaborations,” featured faculty members, research administrators and chief research officers from across the 23-campus California State University system, the University of California, the National Science Foundation and NASA.
The event, one of a series celebrating the university’s anniversary, aimed to celebrate research and all it can accomplish. Speakers shared a broad collection of research and other scholarly work in 12 selected areas: environmental sustainability, energy and water resources, agriculture, computer science and engineering, teacher education, homeland security, life sciences, physical sciences, humanities, health sciences, technology transfer, and existing partnerships among CSU, UC and other institutions.
Ross was one of two former employees receiving the service award.
