April 08, 2009 –
UCI researchers with a wide range of wireless technology interests gathered recently for a CALIT2 brainstorming workshop. In five-minute lightening presentations, more than a dozen faculty members shared their expertise and current research. Their projects run the gamut from development of low-power, high-frequency RF circuits/systems to the implementation of antennas and the creation of a Web 2.0-based wireless communication network platform.
The presentations led to discussion of potential future collaborations. Researchers see the technology forming the foundation for novel applications in e-health, medical devices, smart civil infrastructures, intelligent transportation, automobile designs and remote sensing for the environment. Participants are working on white papers that will be available on the CALIT2 Web site; a follow-up workshop will be held later this year.
