September 08, 2011 –
UCI’s Environment Institute is collaborating with CALIT2 and three other partners to encourage innovators working in the fields of energy and the environment.
The 2011 Clean Tech Academy, also supported by the Orange County chapter of the Tech Coast Angels, OCTANe and the Merage School of Business, seeks to help innovators in the UCI community present their technologies, products or services.
The Clean Tech Academy is open to UCI students, faculty, staff and researchers who have an innovative product or service currently in development. Participants will prepare a business plan and presentation for the Clean Tech Academy business plan competition, and will be mentored by seasoned investors and business professionals.
A total of $50,000 in prizes will be awarded to the winners of the competition. In addition, a CALIT2/ TechPortal Award will provide to the winning project six months of free occupancy in the business technology incubator.
The highest ranking semi-finalist team that meets all entrance requirements for the Business Plan Competition at the Paul Merage School of Business will be eligible to enter that competition as a semi-finalist in February 2012.
An information session will be held in the CALIT2 Auditorium at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5. It will be followed by a reception in the CALIT2 Atrium, during which members of the Environment Institute, Tech Coast Angels, OCTANe, CALIT2 and the Paul Merage School of Business will be available for informal discussion.
Applications, which will be accepted through Oct. 30, 2011, are available at http://environment.uci.edu/CleanTech.php.
